Don Singer, 73, begins his 2-mile run in Annapolis, something he tries to do at least three times a week. He began running in 1992 to relieve stress and has competed in five marathons since then. Doctors say just like any workout routine, running is good for the body. To prevent injuries, runners 40 and older need to slowly increase the intensity of the workouts, stay hydrated and adjust expectations.
